Lewis Barbecue

My favorite takeout spot in downtown Charleston! The chopped brisket sandwich or hot guts are both wonderful selections. Every day brings a different special, most notably the giant beef rib on Saturdays. They do tend to sell out by noon though!

Johns Island Trip

The Angel Oak Tree is a true beauty and there is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy the magnificence of it, without being crowded by others. It’s a short ride to Low Tide, a great local brewery with outdoor seating (try the "Aloha Beaches" or "Tura'Lu"). Immediately next door is Wild Olive, an incredible Italian restaurant that serves handmade fresh pasta. They were actually the first "Certified Green" restaurant in the state!

Charles Towne Landing

Located off the Ashley River, a group of English settlers landed here in 1670 to establish the birthplace of the Carolina colony. You can take an audio tour on the self guided history trail, rent bikes to ride the six miles of paths, or take a casual stroll through the alley of live oaks and twelve room exhibit hall.
