Butler Services

Acknowledged for above-and-beyond attentiveness, The Spectator is the only hotel in Charleston to provide personalized butler service for every guest. Passionate about offering impeccable Southern hospitality, our butlers pay attention to the unexpected details that elevate an enjoyable stay to an extraordinary experience.

Meet The Butlers

Dustin

Originally from Sumter, SC, Dustin has been a dedicated tour guide in Charleston since 2006. He has been working at The Spectator since 2023 and, in his free time, also runs his own walking tour business, finding joy in sharing Charleston's stories. Dustin recommends top restaurants like The Establishment and The Ordinary, and suggests exploring the Aiken-Rhett House Museum or strolling down Legare Street for an authentic Charleston experience.

Chuck

A jack of all trades, Chuck is a self-described "Georgia boy" who has sharpened his hospitality skills as a concierge and tour guide. When he’s not enjoying a Charleston-centric libation with his wife or on a trail run with his beagle, Jelly Bean, he’s often encouraging guests to strike out on a self-guided walking or cycling tour of the city’s beautiful homes, churches and graveyards.

Michelle

A native Charlestonian, Michelle delights in directing first-time visitors to her home town’s hidden alleys, historic gardens, and cobblestone streets. When she’s not sharing her insider tips about local restaurants and favorite attractions with Spectator guests, she’s logging countless hours as a committed volunteer with community organizations that serve the city’s less fortunate.

David

Our head butler, David joined The Spectator in February 2016, following a 15-year career in the casino industry in Atlantic City. An oyster lover and poker player, he happily points arriving guests in the direction of his favorite Charleston oyster bars, plantations (Middleton Place), and attractions, including the Edmondston-Alston House tour. He’s always ready for a day at the beach with his family or dinner at a new restaurant.

Darryl

Darryl joined the Spectator in 2021 but is no stranger to the area, as he is a native Charlestonian. He has also worked in numerous top hotels in Charleston for over 15 years. He loves dining at his favorite local restaurants such as Husk and Amen Street. When he’s not fishing or walking around the beautiful areas in the Lowcountry, he’s often recommending his favorite Gullah Tours to guests who may also enjoy the history and cultural insights provided.

Jim

Jim is originally from New Jersey but has resided in Charleston for 3 years now. While he loves hiking, weight-lifting, and traveling - he also enjoys dining at some of this favorite restaurants. On his off days you may find him enjoying a savory meal at Halls Chophouse, FIG, or Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar. If looking for Charleston activities, Jim will happily point you to some of his favorites (Fort Sumter and McLeod Plantation).
